Following the release of the 2017 Matric Results, the Siyandisa Foundation paid R50,000 to each of the three top performing Siyandisa Foundation Scholarship Recipients, with a further R136,000 in total paid out to the 25 recipients for their 136 distinctions achieved.
Part of the Siyandisa Foundation Scholarship Programme entails an exciting incentive for the recipients to perform well in their matriculation examinations, by awarding a cash prize of R1000 per matriculation distinction obtained. “We are so excited to be paying out R136,000 to our 25 recipients for their 136 distinctions achieved. Each distinction was worked hard for and it is a privilege for us to reward such hard work with these cash bursaries. We hope that it will assist with some of the important expenses that the recipients will need to cover as they start their tertiary careers,” says Cikizwa Bacela, Public Relations and Marketing Manager for Siyandisa Trust and the Siyandisa Foundation.
In addition, the Siyandisa Foundation has also committed to funding three further merit bursaries of R50,000 each to the top performing recipients for use towards their university studies. The three bursary recipients who will each receive these R50,000 bursaries based on their academic results in the 2017 matriculations examinations, are Phole Mofokeng from Mampoi Secondary School in Phuthaditjhaba; Refilwe Ester Selepe from Rantsane Secondary School in Phuthaditjhababa; and Gidion Lekgotla Mashiane from Tsebo Secondary School in Phuthaditjhaba.
“We are enormously proud of these three students and hope that these bursaries, in addition to the distinction bursaries they are to receive, will help with their tertiary studies and allow them to shine as we know they can. Based on the results of the 2017 examinations, in addition to the extensive scholarship offering these 25 recipients received in 2017, the Siyandisa Foundation will therefore pay a total of R286,000 in bursaries to these 25 recipients, helping to grow excellence as part of our broader commitment to, through these learners, invest in the future of our country,” concludes Cikizwa.
