Training Portal Online is excited to announce the implementation of our second Wholesale and Retail SETA course as part of our ever-expanding list of qualifications. With the success of the first W&R SETA course, The National Certificate: Generic Management, NQF Level 5, Training Portal identified additional needs within the Business sector that we wished to address.
The National Certificate: Informal Small Business Practice, NQF 3, is meant to help equip learners towards developing an understanding of the fundamental underlying principles in the operational areas concerning the W&R sector as well as entry-level business practices.
This qualification is aimed at including a vast range of learners, including school-leavers, youth and unemployed individuals, and learners who are already employed and might desire to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
The qualification has been designed to assist learners in understanding the South African context within the Retain sectors while increasing the learners' understanding of business in general, helping to enabling learners to use this in various business environments and to progress to more formal business operations.
The scope of Informal Small Business Practice covers the following six main competencies:
- Understanding of retail operational requirements.
- Effective handling of financial transactions.
- Handling of basic merchandising.
- Maintaining safety and security in the business environment.
- Handling of stock.
- Customer service.
The vital impact of this certificate on society and the economy is reflected through the multiple job roles and careers that can be influenced by this course, including but not limited to self-employment and job creation opportunities. The main aim of this qualification is to assist in addressing some of the fundamental needs identified in the W&R sector both now and in the future of South Africa, making this qualification a powerhouse at equipping learners to become successful in the Business sector.
