In an interview with Volksblad and Netwerk24 one of 25 Siyandisa Foundation scholarship recipients' conceded that her six distinctions in the recent matric results, would simply not have been possible without it.
As part of her scholarship offering in her grade 11 year, Boitumela Simela, one of seven Siyandisa bursary holders from Beacon Secondary School in Phuthaditjhaba, received a tablet and data, videos with lectures by the best teachers in the Free State, stationery, career couselling and mentoring.
"It helped me enormously. Without it, I would not have been able to perform so well," she said when Ruan Bruwer from Volksblad en Netwerk24 interviewed her about her six distinctions achieved in the just released matric results.
A further plus was the R1000 per distinction she received from the Siyandisa Foundation upon the news of her successful matric examinations. In total R136 000 was paid out to 2017's 25 Siyandisa Foundation Scholarship recipients for the 136 distinctions achieved among them.
